There are 3 main reasons of the elasticity of child development (Orphanages, poor, and vulnerable children) based on my observation and experience working with the social engagement for nearly six years, They are poverty force, Community Force, and New Government Policies Force.
The Poverty Force, nowadays, there are many poor families around Cambodian Society even though the Economic Report of the government show that the Rate of Economic Growth is significantly increased but the reality of the communities is very different from the report. It meant that many people still living in poverty and differed because they have no enough and good food to eat, no cleaned water to drink, no appropriated shelter to live, no good health services and others so, the parent try using their children to work for making profit to help the families and anyway, they are not able to send their children to school because have no money for school uniforms, study materials, and instruments or no way to go etc.
The Community Force, some communities do not like education they thought that educations useless, wast the time and money. they said that we are poor however, we graduated from university but we still working in the farm so we should not spend many time in education we should work more than study and our children should allow them to study on primary or junior high school that enough for life. They do not really see the important of education so they try limit their child education. They do not give any motivation on education to their young generation.
The New Government Policies Force, Many children in Cambodia are orphan and poor or living in very difficult situation in various communities and also some of them are staying r living in the charity centers which funded by many charitable person from oversea in order to create more opportunities for our children to have a good growth with knowledge, skill, experience, and morality but now new policies of the government seem to destruct or threat all the centers to closed because they have seen that all children in the center are strong enough to lead their destiny in the future so they want to close the centers and move them back to their communities. This policy will be most effected to the life of children who are poor, vulnerable, and orphans because they will drop out school after they move from the centers.
I hope all partners will rethink again about these and join hand in hand to create more opportunity for the development of our young generation.
